The Lore

A visit to the isle of Madlandia may bring a chance encounter with mythical beasts, a close call with a shooting star, or even a long lasting friendship with a bug eyed furry monster. On Madlandia, we create colorful goods, wearables, and the amazing line of Hue-Mongous Cotton Yarn, partly inspired by our childhood imaginations and partly inspired by that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach on a carnival ride. So whether you want to surf the back of a narwhal while you crochet, chase spooky creatures in the dark, or just roast marshmallows with Big Foot, Madlandia should be your next destination.

Yarn & Crochet

Crochet is King in Madlandia and yarn is the magic that binds the universe together. Crochet patterns, crochet hooks, crochet yarn, and crochet artisans abound. As the Queen of the land, I am very proud of world we have built together and strive to make our kingdom a land of color and wonder. Since 1994, I have been creating designs and playing with color. After years of searching high and low, I knew it was time to find a mill that would work with me to create the yarn of my dreams. That is how Hue-Mongous 100% Cotton yarn was created. Years of color theory and textile experimentation came together in this perfect yarn.

Where did the name Hue-Mongous come from? Well, we decided that 200 grams and 310 meters of luscious cotton was a good size since most crocheters tend to make giant blankets, hexagon sweaters, and yarn eating amigurumi. GO BIG OR GO HOME THEY SAY.

Patterns? Why yes! Madlandia is home to some pretty famous patterns in our corner of the world. Flower Puddles, Granny Scare, and Lucky Thirteen to name a few and there are more coming out of the workshop any moment.

The Workshop

Our workshop is always busy! We are always working to bring new products and ideas to you in our little Madlandia Trading Company market. We make or curate everything in the shop! We have a handful of Makers in the family and we all enjoy different materials and processes (and we definitely have different styles).

We are three generations of artisans and we work in a variety of mediums. We work with yarn, clay, wood, leather, and more. We carve, paint, cut, sew, crochet, knit, and more. We are millefiori artists, textile artists, stamp carvers, paper crafters, jewelry makers, and more. We are young, we are old. Madlandia is the place, both online, and in our family culture, where we can create and share and sell our goods.
