Notes and FAQs:

  1. Softness:  The yarn is 100% cotton. The dyeing and balling process require that the yarn have a starch added so that it holds it’s shape and doesn’t separate while it’s being skeined by machines. This washes out the very first time you wash or rinse the yarn and you will notice the yarn get “softer” after washing.
  2. Hook Sizes and Gauge:  Don’t be such a rule follower! Okay, this is what I mean…Gauge is really important if you are trying to make a garment, or in any project where you need your work to predictably end in an exact measurement. So if that is what you are working on, then by all means, SWATCH IT! This yarn can be used with 3.75-5mm hooks depending on your tension and your desired outcome. Crochet swatch recommendation for a solid but well draped fabric is 10cm x 10cm (4″ by 4″) square that is 15 stitches by 18 rows.
  3. Possible Knots: Yes, it’s true. This is not a reflection on the quality of the yarn, it’s a biproduct of making such LOOOOONG and continuous balls of yarn. These skeins are 310 meters/339 yards long. That is a lot of distance to run without any breaks for a natural, vegetable based fiber.
  4. Colors: There are currently ten Hue-Mongous colors available and the palette is growing as I type this. The goal is to create a saturated palette of brights and pastels that allow your textile projects to become works of art through fibers that are more akin to paints than off the shelf Big Box yarns.
